Description of the flag

The flag of municipality of Topola was designed after the banners of the dukes involved in the First Serbian Uprising. The two baroque-style frames contain:

  • the 'coat of arms' of Tribalia: a boar with a arrow in the head
  • the well-known white cross with the four ocila from the Serbian arms

Ivan Sarajcic 6 June 1999

The First Serbian Uprising took place in 1804-1813. Topola is the place where Karadjordje lived and from where he led the uprising. Karadjordje's mausoleum is in Topola (St. George's Church, Oplenac). The choice of the flag of Karagjorgje's 'troops' is, therefore, appropriate for the municipality.
