Inspekteur (Inspector): chief of any one of the three services — Army, Navy or Air Force. Square flag, quarterly black and gold with the same shield and eagle as on the state flag, with a wide red border measuring 1/4 of the hoist. Source: Schnell and Seidel 1983. Kommandozeichen eines Befehlshabers eines Wehrbereichs oder Territorialkommandos des Heeres

Befehlshaber (Commander) of an Army Wehrbereich (military district) or Territorialkommando (Territorial Command). Square flag divided per saltire black and gold with the same shield and eagle as on the state flag, with a wide red border measuring 1/4 of the hoist. For Wehrbereich commander, the number of the district is inscribed on the upper black area [in Roman numerals]. For territorial commander, the letter of the territory (N: north, S: south, S-H: Schleswig-Holstein) is inscribed on the lower black area. Source: Schnell and Seidel 1983.

The Heeresamt is the organization in charge of Army administration. Square flag divided per saltire black and gold with the same shield and eagle as on the state flag, with a wide red border measuring 1/4 of the hoist, with crossed gold sabers centered on the black section above the shield.
