Škabrnje is a community due east of Zadar inland, in the
Zadar County, 2,500 inhabitants, some 2,000 in the village of the
same name. In the law on local administration the name used until
1997 was in singular form Škabrnja, and it appears that it comes
in the sources occasionaly.
The info on the symbols I received from Mario Brkić, the
webmaster of the site "O Škabrnji" at <onyx.globalnet.hr/~mbrkic>.
The coat of arms of Škabrnje is Azure a winged bull sejant
argent nimbed and holding an open book beneath the front legs or.
The winged bull is an ancient badge of St. Luke Evangelist, who
is patron of Škabrnje and to whom is devoted a 13th century
church preserved there.
The flag is red with the coat of arms bordered golden in the
middle.
