Municipal flag

Apeldoorn is an extensive municipality in the Veluwe forest area, North of Arnhem, with the royal domain 'Het Loo' (meaning 'wood').
The flag was unofficial in 1962; the eagle has been derived from the municipal CoA, which was the CoA of the noble van Apeldoorn family (which had nothing to do with Apeldoorn, according to Sierksma)

This footballclub will join the professional ranks next year, and on TV I saw the proud flag wappering in Apeldoorn (Gelderland). In case you're curious about the blue color: it used to be the "Apeldoornse Geheel Onthouders Voetbal Vereniging" (Teatotalers FC), now it's "Alleen Gezamenlijk Oefenen Voert Verder" (only common training leads further), see its homepage. Inscription: Opgericht 25-2-1913 (Founded 25 Feb 1813)
