Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 35.545; area: 94,41 km². Settlements: Rijssen (seat), Beuseberg, De Borkeld, Dijkerhoek, Espelo, Holten, Holterberg, Holterbroek, Lichtenberg, Look, Neerdorp.
Rijssen is a merger of the former municipalities of Holten and Rijssen on 1 Jan 2001. The municipality was renamed Rijssen-Holten on 15 Mar 2003.

Flag adopted 27 Dec 1962.

Flag: Two equally long vertical stripes of green and red, with in the center of green a yellow six-pointed star, and on the center of red a yellow pig's head.
This flag was adopted 27 Dec 1962 by municipal resolution. The colors are derived from the municipal arms. The star is the symbol of the Virgin Mary; the pig's head represents the three pig's heads on the CoA.
