Sint Jansteen was a municipality with 4.000 inhabitants in Eastern
Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, south of Hulst. Settlements: Sint Jansteen (seat), Absdale,
Drie Hoefijzers, Heikant (part), Hoekje and Kapellebrug (part). It is named
after "de Steen", the castle of Jan van Namen, count of Vlaanderen,
c. 1300.
