About the flag
The County of Gävleborg consists of an area about the same as the two provinces Gästrikland and Hälsingland. Its arms is a shield quarted of the two provincial arms, the elk for Gästrikland and the goat for Hälsingland; the quartered form was chosen so that the animals would not be too stretched out
in the fields.
Elias Granqvist 27 September 2000
