The coat of arms and flag of Cankova are prescribed in decision Odlok o istovetnostnih simbolih in priznanjih Obcine Cankova, adopted on 31 May 2002, and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije 51/02:
The flag is five-striped blue and white with a blue square at hoist containing the flower and two wavy lines from the coat of arms.
The two wavy lines represent the stream Kucnica, which has been the border between Austria and Hungary for thousands of years, and the river of Lendava that now forms the artifical lake for the power plants. The Kucnica valley was the site of numerous daffodil blossoms, nowadays quite rare due to irrigation.

According to the aforementioned decision:
The coat of arms of Cankova is per pale azure and argent, in the first a daffodil (Narcissus) flower argent seeded or and in the base overall two barrulets wavy counterchanged.

According to the aforementioned decision:
For vertical hoisting the emblems in the flag are rotated so that they still stand upright.
